Case Study

Our client had lost her husband and together before his passing, they had decided that a traditional funeral wasn’t his style or wish. The family had a private cremation followed by a celebration of his life a month later. The couple had a favourite Turkish restaurant that our client wanted to hire and invite approx 40-50 guests.

Over to us…

We liaised with the restaurant and decided on a set menu - a mixed mezze starter on sharing platters followed by chicken shish, mixed, salmon or vegetarian. We then produced both digital and paper invites which included the food selection.

The family spoke to the celebrant beforehand several times, in this case, it was Ade, who gathered their stories and memories and shaped them into a beautiful introduction. Some members of the family wished to speak, they also emailed their words to Ade just in case emotion got the better of them on the day, this ensured their words were heard.

Photo boards were produced and framed, and on this occasion, the deceased was an avid crossworder so we created a personalised crossword with bespoke pen as a take-home gift.

This particular Celebration of My Life cost approximately £5k (excl. bar).

Cost Guide:

Design & print package £400

  • Design & print of x3 16x20” posters, one portrait for entrance displayed on an easel, 2x montage of favourite photos, framed. Photos can be retouched if necessary.

  • Invitation x100 design and printed on A6 (postage not inc) with envelopes.

  • Order of Service x100 A5 folded (4 pages)

Celebrant £300

  • Your chosen celebrant will contact you to discuss your celebration. You relax and have an informal chat (in person or on the phone) and the celebrant will shape your stories and memories into a beautiful service. More than one person can be involved in this process to ensure all voices are heard and that everyone feels they have input.

  • Your celebrant will usually stay at your celebration for up to two hours.

Crossword & pen take-home gift x 100 units £300

  • This particular case study illustrates the wide variety of personal touches we can provide. We can guide you in this creative process and give you ideas and suggestions. In this case, the family gave us keywords and we created the crossword so every answer was significant. The pen was a high-quality roller ball with the deceased name and dates printed on it.

Our fee is £500

  • We visited the restaurant and hand-selected a varied menu and negotiated prices that the client was happy with. We suggested when the toast would be appropriate and when to bring out the first course. We devised with the restaurant a colour code system so there was no need for a table plan and each guest got the food they had chosen in advance. We set up the space with the printed pieces and held back the take-home gift so it didn’t ruin the surprise.

  • Typically we charge a flat fee of £500. If your event is very large or complex we will charge a higher fee.

Restaurant £3,500 (client paid directly to restaurant)

  • We ask clients to pay the catering supplier directly. We do not include bar costs in our quote.

  • On this occasion, the client knew where the celebration would take place. If you have a favourite location as long as there is catering on-site we can arrange everything for you. If you don’t have a location in mind we can suggest one we know or find one that suits your brief.
